Louise Mazanti, b. 1972, lives in Denmark, where she works as a free-lance teacher, curator and writer. She is the author of a comprehensive series of articles and catalogue contributions within the crafts. After completing her Master’s Degree in art history at the University of Aahus she did Scandinavia's first Ph.D. degree in craft theory from the Danish Design School, Copenhagen, in 2006. In the thesis entitled “Super Objects” she developed a theoretical position of the crafts, which marks the field as a practice independent of art and design discourses. The thesis was widely recognized for its ability to mark craft objects as important contributions to contemporary visual art practices.

Mazanti is a former professor of craft and design theory and history at Konstfack University College of Art, Craft and Design in Stockholm, Sweden, a member of the THINK TANK - A European Initiative for the Applied Arts and exhibition reviews editor of the Journal of Modern Craft at Berg Publishers, Oxford. She has held numerous honorary positions at Danish and foreign institutions and has lectured in a variety of countries. Currently she has undertaken a training program on Transpersonal Psychology at the Psychosynthesis and Education Trust, University of East London, which bridges issues of consciousness, spirituality and human evolution, thus offering a more holistic view on art and artistic processes.
