The MFA Gloryhole: Selections from the Last Ten Years
Curated by Susan Kowalczyk
April 25 - July 14, 2002
This special exhibition will feature selected work of the past decade from the Museum's MFA Gloryhole Collection. For the uninitiated, the Gloryhole Collection consists of art work by Master of Fine Arts (and a few Bachelor of Fine Arts) students from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred, School of Art and Design ceramics program. The pieces were chosen by the ceramic art faculty and donated to the Collection by the artists at the time of their graduation. The Gloryhole Collection contains hundreds of objects dating from the 1940s to the present.
Curated by the museum's collection manager, Susan Kowalczyk, this selection from the Gloryhole Collection includes ceramic work from 1992 through 2001. Artists included in the exhibition are Chris Baskin, Andy Brayman, Elizabeth Brumble, Michael Connelly, Bruce Gholson, Steven Godfrey, Jason Greene, Linda Huey, Yukiko Ito, Marty Kendall, Harin Lee, Jiansheng Li, Allison McGowan, Alleghany Meadows, Sam Morgan, Casey O'Connor, Vince Palacios, Kelly Palmer, Denise Pelletier, Aysha Peltz, Steven Rolf, Andy Shaw, Malcolm Mobutu Smith, Dirk Staschke, Zoé Strecker, Matt Towers, Gabrielle Verbovsky, and Denise Woodward.
We hope you will enjoy viewing these pieces, most of which have never before been exhibited in the Museum. The MFA Gloryhole: Selections from the Last Ten Years will open on Thursday, April 25, 2002 with a reception from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
