The special exhibition will feature ceramic pieces from our permanent collection with additions from invited artists, Julia Galloway, Hide Sadohara, and Sanam Emami. The focus is on pouring vessels such as teapots, pitchers, ewers, bottles, pouring bowls and a soup tureen with its ladle. Most are functional pieces. There is a variety of context for these home-related objects. Some were made for daily use, others perhaps for special occasions. A few would function only as display items. Each is intimate in scale and could be held in one's hands. The exhibition was curated by the museum’s collection manager, Susan Kowalczyk.

Contemporary artists whose work is included from the permanent collection are Fred Bauer, Peter Beasecker, Mark Burns, Larry Bush, Val Cushing, Malcolm Davis, Josh DeWeese, Ryan Greenheck, Mike Helke, Coille Hooven, Clary Illian, Ole Jensen, Karen Karnes, Frank Martin, Mark Pharis, David Regan, Don Reitz, Lee Rexrode, Phil Rogers, Carol Rohrbach, David Shaner, Linda Sikora, Richard St. John, Akio Takamori, Ellen Shankin, Cindy Sherman, Eric Van Eimeren, Peter Voulkos, Todd Wahlstrom, Bruce Winn, and Beatrice Wood.

Historic pieces from the collection include: pitcher by Henry Varnum Poor, group of English Staffordshire Ware pitchers with transfer images, Rhinehardt Pottery jug, Russel Wright ewer, Edwin and Mary Scheier pitcher, German Bellarmine jug, Nigerian water bottle, bottle from the Mississippian culture, and Mexican Tlatilco bottle.
